These cards align with Conscious Discipline and help build the school family. These cards are a no-prep, no-time way to integrate community building principles into your classroom. Staff and students alike can use the wish well cards to acknowledge students who are absent, acting out or just having a hard time. The oops cards similarly help students develop positive self-talk and feel connected to the school family even when they make a mistake.
For a no-prep tool, simply print and have available to pass out as needed. For a more durable and reusable tool, print on card stock or laminate. Teach students a wish well ritual so they are familiar with the concept. Wish well cards can be an especially good tool for students who like to intervene when a peer is being disruptive or struggling to manage their emotions. It teaches empathy and builds a system of support. Prepare students to use the oops cards effectively by modeling saying "oops" when you make a mistake, then fixing it without self-judgment. The oops cards can then remind students that they can do the same.
