Deep breathing is a powerful tool to calm the nervous system, help access the prefrontal cortex of the brain even when stressed, and regulate emotions and behavior. It is most effectively taught when students are exposed to it both during moments of calm (for practice) and moments of stress (to access the benefits). I wanted a set of tools that would integrate deep breathing in a variety of ways and provide diverse techniques to engage students of all ages and personalities, so I created this bundle. I drew from my expertise as both a licensed clinical social worker and also a yoga teacher with hundreds of hours of training in both adult and child yoga to compile breathing exercises that are easy, fun, developmentally appropriate for all ages, and restorative.
Includes eighteen different breathing exercises that teach proper technique in three formats:
- Breathing book
- Breathing bracelets
- Breathing cards
The book is an excellent classroom resource, the cards are great for students to hold onto, and the bracelets provide a visible reminder for students to use their deep breathing in the moment. The book and cards come in color but are designed to work if printed in grayscale as well. The bracelets are black and white, and look beautiful when printed double-sided (instructions on the inside, design on the outside) on colored paper. The images are high resolution and can be printed as posters if desired. They can also be integrated into Google Slides or any other digital platform to lead group breathing exercises in the remote classroom.
