The most common goal my students are working on is emotion regulation or development of coping strategies. It's one thing for students to be able to think about in the abstract when they are calm but it is a lot more challenging to implement coping skills in those moments when big feelings take over. These cards communicate to school staff that a student is approved to leave the classroom or use any of the coping strategies specified on their card. The best part is that students do not have to verbally communicate their need; they just hand over the card. The other side of each card, which comes in three customizable versions, reminds them of the breathing techniques, affirmations, grounding techniques, or other coping skills that they can use as needed.

 

This is print-and-go! Simply print out two pages of your choice double-sided and cut out the cards. Two versions come with pre-placed text boxes for you to enter customized affirmations or coping strategies specific to your student. Fill out the front of the ca􏰀ds and have the student stash them someplace safe and accessible like their binder, pencil case, or desk so that they have them when they need them.
