Reserving three to five minutes a day for discussion or journaling is a great and easy way to integrate SEL. Journaling is an evidence-based technique to increase self-awareness, reduce stress, resolve conflict, and build social-emotional skills. Even our youngest students can reap these benefits by drawing or dictating their perspective. I created this collection of prompts for teachers looking for high-quality, no-prep reflection questions that are directly aligned to CASEL and Illinois state standards for social-emotional learning. Prompts are created by a licensed social worker and designed to spark conversation if you wish to use them for discussion.
Each slide contains a different prompt. These can be added to a Power Point or Google Slides presentation. The PDF can also be integrated into however else you display information for students. Students can record their responses in a digital or paper journal or simply discuss.
Includes 15 prompts in six standards-aligned categories:
- Community
- Self-Awareness
- Emotions
- Relationships
- Problem Solving and Decision Making
